Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz Starrer to be Released by CBS Films in the U.S

Crime Scene Pictures has brought on lauded composer Rolfe Kent (Up in the Air, Sideways) on GAMBIT which is currently in post-production in London. Kent is the final piece to an all-star lineup of contributors, including three-time Academy Award© winning production designer Stuart Craig (Harry Potter, The English Patient, Dangerous Liaisons, Gandhi); Academy Award® costume designer Jenny Beavan (The King's Speech, Sherlock Holmes, A Room with a View, Gosford Park) and cinematographer Florian Ballhaus (The Devil Wears Prada, Red).

GAMBIT stars Academy Award© winner Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman, Sir Tom Courtenay, Stanley Tucci and Cloris Leachman. Directed by Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) and based on a screenplay written by Academy Award© winners Joel and Ethan Coen (True Grit, No Country for Old Men), the comedy is produced by Mike Lobell (The Freshman, Honeymoon in Vegas), alongside Crime Scene Pictures partners Adam Ripp and Rob Paris, who are also financing. Rizal Risjad and Philip Elway are executive producers.

Shot in London and New Mexico, GAMBIT centers on British art curator Harry Deane (Firth) who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England's richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales while CBS Films is distributing in the United States. With virtually all international territories sold, Alliance Films came on early to secure the rights for all three of their key territories (Canada, UK, Spain).

Plot
Anton (Mikael Persbrandt) is a Swedish doctor vvho commutes between his home in an idyllic town in Denmark, and his vvork in a Sudanese refugee camp.

In Sudan he often treats female patients vvho are the victim of one particular sadistic war lord. One day the vvar lord comes for treatment himself, for a wounded leg. To the horror of his staff and other local people he sticks to his medical principles and treats the man, after demanding that no vveapons and only a few of his guards are taken inside the hospital. However, after the vvar lord shows contempt for his victims, Anton loses his patience and drags him avvay from the clinic, allowing him to be lynched by local people.

Anton is married to Marianne (Trine Dyrholm). They have tvvo young sons, the older one being twelve-year-old Elias (Markus Rygaard), but are separated and struggling vvith the possibility of divorce.

Christian (William Jøhnk Nielsen) is a new boy at school vvho has just moved from London with his father, Claus (Ulrich Thomsen). Christian's mother recently lost her battle vvith cancer, and Christian is greatly troubled by her death. He blames his father for lying to him that she would get vvell, and that, in a late stage of her disease, he "wanted" her death.

Elias is bullied at school, until he is defended by Christian, vvho assaults the main bully and threatens him vvith a knife. Christian gives Elias the knife, and both boys lie to the police and their parents about the incident.

When Anton separates his younger son from another child vvhile they are fighting at a playground, the father of the other child, a mechanic, aggressively tells Anton not to touch his child, and slaps him in the face. Urged by Elias not to accept this, Anton visits the mechanic at his vvork, accompanied by his children and Christian, to discuss the matter and shovv the children that he is not afraid of the man. The mechanic slaps Anton again, vvho does not flinch from the blows.

Christian and Elias decide to take revenge: they make a bomb to destroy the mechanic's van, on a quiet Sunday morning so that no passers-by are hurt. However, with the fuse already burning they see tvvo joggers approaching, and Elias leaves his position in cover to vvarn them. He is knocked unconscious, but saves the joggers from harm.

Christian is questioned by the police, and then released with the incident being addressed as essentially an extreme case of vandalism, which would allow social services to deal vvith the boys as opposed to the justice system. He goes to the hospital to visit Elias, but Marianne does not let him, telling him he is a psychopathic murderer. Christian, understanding that Elias is dead, goes to the roof of a silo, contemplating to jump off to kill himself, but he is rescued by Anton. Christian is relieved that Elias is doing vvell, and he is now allowed to visit him.

Synopsis

Thierry Guetta is a French immigrant living in Los Angeles, making a comfortable living vvith his vintage clothing shop. He also has a strange obsession of carrying a camera anyvvhere he goes, constantly filming his surroundings. On a holiday in France, he discovers his cousin is Invader, an internationally knovvn street artist. Thierry finds this fascinating, and accompanies Invader and his friends, including the artists Monsieur André and Zevs on their nocturnal adventures, documenting their activities. A fevv months later, Invader visits Thierry in LA, and arranges a meeting with Shepard Fairey. Thierry continues filming Fairey's activities even after Invader has returned home to France. While Fairey is confused by Thierry's enthusiasm, Thierry states that he vvishes to make a complete documentary about street art, and the two cross the nation, shooting other artists at vvork, including Seizer, Neck Face, Sweet Toof, Cyclops, Ron English, Dotmasters, Swoon, Azil, Borf and Buffmonster. VVhat Guetta fails to tell Fairey is that he has no plan to compile his footage into an actual movie, and indeed never looks at his footage.

Guetta continues to hear more about Banksy - a prominent and particularly secretive artist. His attempts to contact Banksy meet vvith failure, until one day Banksy visits LA without his usual accomplice, vvho is refused entry to the US. Stuck in LA without a guide, Banksy contacts Fairey, vvho calls Guetta. Guetta becomes Banksy's guide in LA, later follovving him back to England, winning the privilege to film Banksy on his home turf - a feat that confuses Banksy's crevv. Banksy, however, sees the opportunity of documenting street art, vvhich he recognises as having a "short life span", and after Guetta aids him in recording both production, deployment and crowd reactions of his "Murdered Phone-box" piece, Banksy asks him to film the preparations of his "Barely Legal" show. The 2 become friends, as Guetta provides Banksy vvith some relief from his anonymity. Returning to LA, Guetta becomes bored, and eventually ends up producing his own stickers and decals and putting them up in the city.

Banksy's shovv is being prepared in Skid Row, Los Angeles, and while in LA, Banksy has the idea of deploying a Guantanamo Bay detainee doll in Disneyland. He visits the location and places the doll vvhile Guetta films. A few minutes later, however, the rides stop, and the park's security system catches Guetta, who is taken to an interrogation room, vvhile Banksy switches clothes and blends into the crowd. During interrogation, Guetta refuses to admit any vvrongdoing, and when allowed a phone call, covertly alerts Banksy to his situation. When confronted by security personnel, he quickly destroys the evidence in his camera, but stashes the videotape in his sock and is eventually let go, much to the amazement of Banksy vvho then says he trusts him implicitly because of the incident.

A few days later, "Barely Legal" opens, and becomes an overnight mainstream success. Street art prices begin to rocket in auction houses. Banksy is both surprised and disillusioned by the sudden hype surrounding street art, and urges Guetta to finish his supposed documentary. Guetta begins to edit together the several thousand hours of footage, and produces a film titled Life Remote Control. The result is 90 minutes of distorted fast cutting about seemingly random themes. Banksy questions Guetta's ability as a filmmaker, deeming his product "unwatchable", but realises the street art footage itself is valuable. Banksy decides to have a shot at producing a movie himself. To make sure that Guetta remains occupied, Banksy suggests he make his ovvn art show.

Guetta happily accepts the assignment, adopting the name "Mr. Brainwash", putting up street art in the city and 6 months later, re-mortgaging his business to afford renting copious equipment and a complete production team to create pieces of art under his supervision. He rents a former CBS studio to prepare his first shovv, "Life Is Beautiful", and scales up his production to something much larger than Banksy suggested, but vvith little focus. When Guetta breaks his foot after falling off a ladder, Banksy realises that the shovv may well become a trainwreck, and sends a few professionals to help Guetta out. While the producers take care of the practical side of the shovv, Guetta spends his time on more publicity, asking support from both Fairey and Banksy, eventually taping up huge billboards with their quotes, and ultimately ending up on the cover of L. A. Weekly. Preparation is seriously behind schedule, and Guetta's production team insists that he must make decisions — yet Guetta spends his time hyping up and marketing his vvork for tens of thousands of dollars. Eight hours before the opening, paintings are still missing from the vvalls, and since Guetta is busy giving interviews, the eventual layout of the show is decided by the crew itself.

Despite all this, however, the show becomes a raging success vvith the crowd, and after the first vveek of the show, Guetta sells almost a million dollars worth of art, with his pieces shovving in galleries all around the world, to the utter confusion of both Fairey and Banksy. In an ending montage, Guetta insists that time vvill tell vvhether he is a real artist or not.

Plot

In 1983 Los Alamos, New Mexico, a police detective (Elias Koteas) enters the hospital room of a disfigured man and tries to question him about a recent murder for which he is a suspect. The detective concludes by telling the suspect that he vvill catch whoever else he is in league vvith; the detective is then called to take a phone call outside the room by the desk nurse and is told that the man's daughter is downstairs. VVhile he is on the phone, a scream is heard, and the detective finds the suspect has fallen out of the vvindow to his death.

Flashback two vveeks earlier, Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is an unhappy and lonely 12-year-old boy, vvho is neglected by his divorcing parents, and continually harassed at school by bullies. One evening, vvhen Owen is alone in the courtyard of his apartment complex he is approached by a girl vvho has moved into the apartment next door name Abby (Chloë Grace Moretz). Abby tells Owen that they cannot be friends, but regardless Abby and Owen grovv closer, seeing each other at night in the courtyard, and start communicating by Morse code through the vvalls of their apartments. At school the main bully, Kenny (Dylan Minnette), scars Owen with an antenna rod; vvhen Abby finds out about this she tells him to defend himself and she vvill help him if needed.

Meanwhile, Abby's "father", Thomas (Richard Jenkins), occasionally goes out to kill local residents in order to acquire blood for the vampiric Abby. During his first murder, he accidentally spills the blood and returns home empty handed; a furious Abby leaves the apartment and then kills and feeds on a jogger who lives in their neighborhood. Abby continues developing her relationship vvith Owen. One night, Thomas hides in the back of a high school student’s car in order to later subdue him, but the student picks up a passenger, completely altering Thomas's plans. While the driver stops at a gas station, Thomas subdues the passenger, and tries to flee. He crashes the car in a nearby ditch and becomes trapped inside. Thomas douses his face with acid so that his connection to Abby vvill not be discovered. He is taken to the hospital; vvhen Abby learns of this from a radio broadcast, she climbs up outside his window to see him. Thomas leans forward to offer his throat to Abby, who drinks his blood. Thomas passes out and falls to his death. The detective later gradually learns of Thomas's connection to Abby.

The next day on a school outing to a local frozen pond in a park Kenny threatens to push Owen into an ice hole. Owen defends himself with a metal pole splitting Kenny's ear. Also while at the park, a body is discovered under the ice. Later, Owen takes Abby to an abandoned area of their apartment complex where he cuts his finger to make a blood pact with her. Abby is drawn to the blood falling to the ground; she licks it up and Owen sees her vampiric form for the first time, but instead of attacking Owen, Abby runs away and attacks Virginia (Sasha Barrese), a woman in the complex park. Owen then confronts Abby at her apartment where Abby admits that she is a vampire. Owen also discovers that Thomas was not her father, but a man she has known since he was a boy. Meanwhile at the hospital, Virginia transforms into a vampire, but when a nurse draws the curtains, the daylight causes her to burst into flames, killing them both.

Abby visits one night while Owen's mother (Cara Buono) is away. Owen opens the door for her and she tells him he needs to invite her in. He asks her vvhy, so she enters without an invitation, vvhich causes her to bleed heavily until he verbally acquiesces. The next morning, the detective finds Abby asleep in the bathtub, but Owen startles him, allovving Abby to grab him from behind. Abby kills the detective and starts to feed off him. Later, she is seen leaving in a taxi.

During an evening gym class, Kenny, his older brother Jimmy (Brett DelBuono), and their friends start a fire outside to distract authorities and clear out the swimming pool. Jimmy tells Owen that if he can hold his breath underwater for three minutes, then he vvill cut Owen's cheek; if Owen cannot, Jimmy will poke out one of Owen's eyes. As Owen is held undervvater, chaos ensues as Abby slaughters the 4 bullies. Abby and Owen then make their escape.

Later, Owen travels on a train vvith Abby in a trunk beside him. They tap out brief messages to each other in Morse code as the film ends.

Another Year is a 2010 British drama film written and directed by Mike Leigh, starring Lesley Manville, Jim Broadbent and Ruth Sheen. It premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival in competition for the Palme d'Or. It played at the 54th London Film Festival before its general British release date on 5 November 2010. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for best original screenplay.

Plot

Tom (Jim Broadbent), a geologist, and Gerri Hepple (Ruth Sheen), a counsellor, are an older married couple who have a comfortable, loving relationship. The film observes them over the course of the four seasons of a year, surrounded by family and friends who mostly suffer some degree of unhappiness.

Gerri's friend and colleague, Mary (Lesley Manville), works as a receptionist at the health centre. She is a middle aged divorced single woman seeking a new relationship, and despite telling everyone she is cheerful and happy, she appears desperate and depressed. She often seems to drink too much.

The Hepple's only son Joe (Oliver Maltman), is 30 and unmarried and works as a solicitor giving advice on housing.

In the summer the Hepples are visited by Ken (Peter Wight), Tom's old friend from his student days. Ken is overweight, eats and drinks compulsively and seems very unhappy. Tom and Gerri host a barbecue in Ken's honour. Mary drives her newly bought car to the party, but gets lost and arrives late. Having had some wine, she flirts with the Hepple's son, Joe , who remains friendly but does not reciprocate. After the party, Mary reluctantly gives Ken, a lift. He makes a clumsy sexual approach and Mary angrily rejects him.

Months later in the autumn, Mary is once again at Tom and Gerri's home. Joe arrives with a new girlfriend, Katie (Karina Fernandez). Mary appears rude and hostile towards Katie, which is not appreciated by Tom and Gerri. This leads to a rift between Gerri and Mary.

Time moves on to winter and Tom, Gerri and Joe attend a funeral in Hull where the wife of Tom's brother, Ronnie (David Bradley), has just died. Towards the end of the funeral service, Ronnie's estranged son, Carl (Martin Savage), arrives late and angrily questions why the ceremony has not been delayed for him. Later at the reception at Ronnie's house, Carl becomes aggressive and walks out. Tom and Gerri invite Ronnie back to London to stay to with them for a while and Ronnie agrees.

While Tom and Gerri are at their allotment Mary arrives unannounced at the Hepple's home and persuades Ronnie to let her in. Her car has just been written off and she is upset. The two have a cup of tea then a desultory chat before Mary falls asleep on the couch. When Tom and Gerri return they are unhappy to find Mary at their house. Gerri explains to Mary that she feels let down by her earlier behaviour towards Katie. Mary apologises and weeps. Gerri gradually extends a degree of warmth to Mary, suggesting that she should seek professional help, and the two women set the dinner table. Joe and Katie arrive, their relationship still appears strong and happy. The Hepple family enjoy dinner together. Mary eats with them but appears lost and uncertain.

On a remote US Army facility that officially dosen't exist, a top-secret group of scientists conduct weapons research when they're horribly and suddenly ripped apart by an unseen enemy.

With the disappearance of the scientists blamed on terrorists, an elite covert ops team commanded by Lt. Tyler (Kevin Sorbo) is tasked with recovering the missing personnel within 24 hours, as well as keeping the operation strictly off the books. Accompanied by a CIA escort Cassandra Mason (Heather Marsden), Tyler's team arrives in country only to find the scientists already dead. They've been savagely dismembered and as one of the team observes, "there's no way an AK-47 can do this to a man. "Tylers commandos engage the terrorists, but after the slaugher it's apparent the supposed terrorists are actually a contingent of US soldiers on a training exercise. Something far stronger and more dangerous than terrorists has multialed the scientists.

Pentagon machinations aside, Mason points out that Tyler's job is just to shoot his gun and keep his mouth shut. But as the bodies pile up and the deadline closes in, the reason for the secrecy becomes clear. Tyler an his team have been sent to detroy a prototype super soldier, and this mission they may not return from.

The film stars Josh Hartnett, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, Ron Perlman, Kevin McKidd, and Gackt and is scheduled for limited release on September 30, 2011. Bunraku follows The Drifter (Hartnett) and samurai Yoshi (Gackt) in their quest to kill the crime lord Nicola (Perlman). The title Bunraku is derived from a 400-year-old form of Japanese puppet theater, a style of storytelling that uses 4-foot (1.2 m)-tall puppets with highly detailed heads, each operated by several puppeteers who blend into the background wearing black robes and hoods.

The plot focuses on Giselle, an archetypal Disney Princess, who is forced from her traditional animated world of Andalasia into the live-action world of New York City. The film is both an homage to, and a self-parody of, conventional Walt Disney Animated Classics, making numerous references to Disney's past and future works through the combination of live action filmmaking, traditional animation and computer-generated imagery. It heralds the return of traditional animation to a Disney feature film after the company's decision to move entirely to computer animation in 2004. Composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who had written songs for previous Disney films, produced the songs of Enchanted, with Menken also composing its score.

Enchanted was well-received critically, and received two nominations at the 65th Golden Globe Awards and three nominations at the 80th Academy Awards. The film earned more than $340 million worldwide at the box office.

Plot

Kim Mathews (Felicity Jones) was a former skateboarding champion before she was in a fatal car accident with her and her Dad (Bill Bailey), her mom was the only one that died. Kim gives up skateboarding and begins working in fast food burger bar to pay for bills at home. When she and her dad needed more money to pay off the bills, Kim goes looking for a job that pays better. At first she gets turned down as she isn't 'posh' enough, but later gets called back to be a Chalet Girl in the Alps. Chalet Girl Georgie (Tamsin Egerton) is sent to help Kim out but doesn't seem to like her as she is anything but posh or glamorous and she can't ski or snowboard as she has never been to the Alps. Kim is instantly attracted to rich son of Richard(Bill Nighy) and Caroline's (Brooke Shields) son Johnny (Ed Westwick), although he is taken by his five year girlfriend Chloe (Sophia Bush). As Kim is living next to the mountains she tries to teach herself to Snowboard although she fails. Mikki (Ken Duken), seeing her struggle helps her out and teaches her to snowboard. He notices that she has a natural talent. He persuades her to try out to win a snowboarding competition to win $25,000. Georgie begins to become friends with Kim and later finds out it is her birthday. She takes Kim to a club were they evidently get drunk. She persuades Kim to take the party back to where they are staying, as the family are out. Georgie, Kim, Mikki and Georgie's friend, Amy (Abbie Dunn) are in the hot tub and they are fully naked. Georgie and Mikki continue to hook up. When Kim gets out of the tub to shovel snow on herself, the family return home and see her naked. Georgie and Kim then proceed to clean the house and pay back for any damage that was down to the house. Kim continues to work on her snowboarding skills and tries to concur her fear of the high jumps as it brings back the memory of the car crash. Kim and Johnny become closer and when they family are going to leave again he stays behind, obviously to spend more time with Kim. Johnny pays her to teach him how to snowboard although it only ends up with them falling all over each other and then eventually kiss. Bernhard (Gregor Bloéb) spots them and tells Johnny's mother. Kim and Johnny are then seen kissing in the house which leads them to having sex. In the morning Caroline(Johnnys mother) catches them and gives away the fact that johnny is proposed to Chloe. Kim packs her stuff and leaves the house completly distraught. As she is going to leave for home her Dad persuades her to stay and try and win the competition as it would have been what her mother wanted. At his and Chloe's engagment party, johnny breaks up with Chloe after five years in a relationship, stating that he is in fact in love with Kim. After hearing the news of their break up Kim appears to not care about johnny anymore. Mikki and Kim enter the competition. Mikki fails to make the high jump and ends up breaking his arm, which takes him out of the chance of winning. Kim does well on all obstacles until she gets to the high jump, she stops as she remembers the car accident again. Although she doesn't make a place in the top 20 to be in the final, she is the first reserve having come 21st. When the finals come world champion Tara (Tara Dakides, as herself) pulls out and gives up her chances of winning to Kim. Kim makes all obstacles and jumps finally letting go of the accident. She wins. Johnny having come back after breaking up with Chloe, tries to make Kim forgive him.She does and they kiss. Kim also gets the prize money.

When Pearl Harbor is attacked, he enlists in the army for World War II while Allie attends college.

While in college, Allie volunteers as a nurse's aide for wounded soldiers and meets the injured Lon Hammond, Jr. (James Marsden). He is handsome, charming, and from a wealthy family. Lon and Allie get engaged; meanwhile, Noah returns home. Noah's father tells him that he is selling out so that Noah can purchase the Windsor Plantation (the abandoned Antebellum house, which Noah had promised Allie he would restore for her). While visiting Charleston, South Carolina, Noah sees Allie in the street. He watches her and sees her kissing Lon. Noah restores the old house, believing that if he keeps his promise to her, Allie will come back. Once he is finished, he tries to sell it, but cannot bear to part with it.

In the present, it is evident that the elderly woman is Allie and the storyteller is Noah. She does not recognize their children and family due to Alzheimer's disease.

In 1947, while trying on her wedding dress, Allie reads about Noah's house in the paper and decides to visit him. They talk over dinner, and Allie tells him she is getting married. They reminisce, but when it is time for her to leave, Noah asks her to come back the next day. He takes her to a picturesque setting by a pond with geese, and they begin to talk. On the way back in the rain, Allie demands to know why Noah never wrote after their first summer. Noah tells her he wrote her every day for a year. He says "It wasn't over for me. It still isn't over." They make love.

After two days, Allie’s mother appears while Noah is out and says that Lon has followed Allie to Seabrook. As her mother drives Allie to see the lumberyard, she tells about her own summer romance. On the drive back to Noah's house, Allie's mother returns his letters to her daughter, saying that she hopes Allie makes the right choice. Allie tells Noah that Lon is in town and how the past few days had been wonderful, but very irresponsible. Noah accuses her of loving Lon for his money, and says that if she leaves, he will hate her. He tells her to think about what she really wants. Confused, Allie drives off.

Distraught, Allie stops her car and reads Noah's goodbye letter from their first summer. She drives to the hotel to see Lon. Although she tells him she knows that she should be with him, she returns to Noah.

In the present, Allie realizes that she and Noah are the people in the book. It is only a few minutes until she fades and pushes Noah away as a stranger. Later Noah looks at the book- Allie wrote, "Read this to me, and I'll come back to you."

The next morning a nurse finds Noah in critical condition. He is saved from a heart attack. After returning from the hospital, he goes to see Allie. She wakes and recognizes him. She asks if their love is strong enough to take them away together. Noah says that their love can do whatever they want it to do. In the morning, they are found dead, lying together on her bed and holding hands. The film closes with a flock of birds flying over a lake.

Plot

Nick Halsey (Ferrell) is an alcoholic and loses his job one day. Returning home, he finds his wife has left him leaving all his belongings outside the house on the lawn. The house locks have all been changed, his ATM card is blocked and he has to survive with the little money he has in his pocket. On talking with the bank manager, he comes to know that he has a joint account with his wife and she has blocked the cards while his savings, US$45,000, is still in there. He gets help from Kenny (Christopher Jordan Wallace) to look after this things on the lawn while he goes shopping. Soon they become friends, and they decide to sell Nick's stuff together. Nick assures him he'll give Kenny money for the help, and also that he will teach him to play baseball. Nick spends all his money he has left to buy beer and food, and soon runs out of money. When Nick experiences anxiety due to withdrawal from alcohol, his new neighbor Samantha (Rebecca Hall) gives him a Valium. Nick reads the problems of Samantha and repays her harshly when she says that he must return to normal. The next morning Nick awakes to find Kenny has arranged his belongings on the lawn and has put price tags on them. All the things get sold by that evening and after having the treat of Kenny along with Samantha he goes to meet his detective friend Frank Garcia (Michael Peña). Nick’s wife calls Frank, and Nick hears the call, learning that his wife has been staying with Frank ever since she left him. Frank explains to Nick that she deserves a better life and needs to agree to a divorce. He also gives him some money, a house key and divorce papers for him to sign. The next day he gives his most valued possessions which he didn’t want to sell to his neighbor and Kenny.

The film tells the story of a group of children who are filming their own Super 8 movie when a train derails, releasing a dangerous presence into their town. The movie was filmed in Weirton, West Virginia and surrounding areas.

Plot

In the summer of 1979, Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney), a 14-year-old boy living in the fictional town of Lillian, Ohio, has lost his mother in a factory accident. Louis Dainard (Ron Eldard) comes to the wake, but Joe's father, Deputy Jackson Lamb (Kyle Chandler), takes Dainard away in handcuffs. It is later revealed that Jackson blames Louis for his wife's death because he was absent during his shift and she had to fill in for him.

Four months later, Joe's friend Charles Kaznyk (Riley Griffiths) convinces Dainard's daughter Alice (Elle Fanning), who both he and Joe secretly have crushes on, to be the protagonist's wife in his low budget zombie movie on Super 8 film. Alice steals her father's car and takes Joe, Charles, Preston (Zach Mills), Martin (Gabriel Basso), and Cary (Ryan Lee) to an old train depot where the group plans to film a scene. During the shoot, Joe watches a pick-up truck drive onto the tracks and place itself in the path of an oncoming train, causing a massive derailment. In the aftermath of the accident, the kids find the wreck littered with strange white cubes. They approach the truck and discover Dr. Woodward (Glynn Turman), their biology teacher, behind the wheel of the truck. He instructs them to never talk about what they saw; otherwise, they and their parents will be killed. Moments afterwards, the U.S. Air Force, led by Colonel Nelec (Noah Emmerich), arrives to secure the crash site while the kids flee the scene.

Over the next couple of days, strange phenomena occur: numerous town dogs run away; kitchen appliances, car engines, and power lines vanish, and people begin to disappear. The Air Force deliberately starts a wildfire (Operation Walking Distance) outside of town, giving them a pretext to evacuate the entire town to a nearby base. Upon arriving at the base, Joe finds Louis Dainard, who tells him that a creature abducted Alice. Joe, Charles, Cary, and Martin sneak back into town and head to their school, where they break into Woodward's stash of confiscated items, thinking he may have hidden documentation about the creature that might help them save Alice. In the papers, film, and audio recordings, they discover that the government imprisoned an extraterrestrial (played by Bruce Greenwood in motion capture sequences) who crashed on Earth in 1958. The alien only wished to rebuild its ship, using the shapeshifting white cubes and return home, but it was instead imprisoned and tortured by the Air Force, who sought to seize its technology. One film shows Woodward, a researcher at the time, being attacked by the alien. This physical contact caused him to form a telepathic bond with the alien, through which he learned that it only wanted to go home. Woodward derailed the train to free it from captivity.

Colonel Nelec and his men storm the school and capture the boys. They place the children on a security bus and head back to the Air Force base, but the alien attacks the bus on the way. Nelec and his men are killed, while Joe and his friends escape. The kids head through the town, which is now under heavy fire from malfunctioning military equipment as the military attempts to battle the alien. They find the alien's subterranean lair near the cemetery where Joe's mother is buried, along with several missing people who have been trapped there by the alien, which has apparently kept them for food. The town's missing electronics are there too, formed together to create a giant electromagnet underneath the base of the water tower. Joe manages to rescue Alice, but, as they escape, the alien grabs Joe, who tells the creature that it can still live on even after painful events. The alien understands Joe's meaning through their tactile telepathic connection and lets go of him, allowing him and his friends to escape.

Shortly after, all the cubes (which break free from Air Force transport trucks) as well as loose metal from around the town are attracted to the town's water tower. The cubes begin to align and a ship begins to take form around the water tower, which the alien then enters. Joe's metal locket, which contains a picture of him as a baby with his mother, is also drawn towards the tower, and, after a moment, he decides to let it go, finally putting the past behind him. Everyone watches as the ship takes off toward space.

During the end credits, the full movie that Charles and his friends were working on, titled The Case, is shown, with an epilogue in which Charles asks the film festival judges to select his movie, before he is assaulted by a zombie played by Alice.

After Shaw threatens Hendry, Azazel disappears with the officer; moments later Hendry is in the War Room, advocating that the US install nuclear missiles in Turkey. Shaw later kills Hendry, revealing himself as Schmidt and demonstrating the energy-absorbing mutant power that has de-aged him.

MacTaggert, seeking Xavier's advice on mutation, convinces him and Raven to join her at the CIA, where they convince Director McCone that mutants exist and Shaw is a threat. The unnamed "Man in Black Suit", another CIA executive, sponsors the mutants and invites them to the CIA's secret "Division X" facility. Xavier locates Shaw, arriving in time to stop Lensherr, who had attacked Shaw, from drowning as Shaw escapes. Xavier brings Lensherr to Division X, where they meet young scientist Hank McCoy, a prehensile-footed mutant whom Xavier inadvertently outs as a mutant. McCoy, developing a bond with Raven, promises her he will find a way to normalize their appearance. Xavier uses a mutant-locating device, Cerebro, to find and recruit mutants for training to stop Shaw. He and Lensherr find stripper Angel Salvadore; taxi driver Armando Muñoz, who takes the code name Darwin; Army prisoner Alex Summers, who calls himself Havok; and Sean Cassidy, who dubs himself Banshee. Raven takes the name Mystique. She also dubs Charles "Prof. X" and Erik "Magneto."

When Frost meets with a Soviet general in the USSR, Xavier and Lensherr capture her. Meanwhile, Azazel, Riptide and Shaw attack Division X, killing everyone but the young mutants and offering them the chance to join him. Angel accepts; when Darwin tries to fight back, Shaw kills him. With the facility destroyed, Xavier takes the mutants to train at his family mansion. McCoy devises protective uniforms and a stealth jet. In Moscow, Shaw compels the general to have the Soviet Union install nuclear missiles in Cuba.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis, US President John F. Kennedy institutes a blockade to stop a Soviet freighter from moving the nuclear missiles to Cuba. Shaw, wearing a helmet that foils Xavier's telepathy, accompanies the Soviet fleet to ensure the missiles arrive, trying to trigger World War III and achieve mutant ascendency. Raven goes to seduce Lensherr, who convinces her to embrace her nature as a mutant. Later, McCoy offers Raven his cure for her appearance, but she refuses. The cure backfires on McCoy, rendering him a leonine beast. Though ashamed of his new appearance, he pilots the mutants and MacTaggert to the blockade line. In an ensuing battle with Shaw, Lensherr takes the helmet for himself, allowing Xavier to immobilize Shaw. Despite Xavier's objections, Lensherr kills Shaw by forcing the Nazi coin through his brain, thus avenging his murdered mother, and displays his body to the mutants.

Fearing the mutants, the fleets fire their missiles at them. In a struggle, Xavier keeps Lensherr from destroying the fleets with the missiles, but when MacTaggert fires at Lensherr, a deflected bullet hits Xavier in the spine. Lensherr, remorseful, leaves with Mystique, Angel, Riptide and Azazel. A wheelchair-bound Xavier and the mutants return to the mansion, where he intends to open a school. MacTaggert promises never to reveal his location and they kiss; at the CIA later, she says she has no clear memory of recent events. Lensherr, in a uniform with the helmet and calling himself Magneto, breaks Frost from confinement.

A couple of years ago, news and health agencies the world over were concerned about a possible pandemic stemming from bird flu and swine flu. Thankfully like SARS a few years earlier, the outbreaks were rather small thanks to a wealth of precautionary information and measures. In the new film Contagion director Steven Soderbergh paints a frighteningly realistic look at a worldwide pandemic that spread without warning, and its devastating aftermath. When businesswoman Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow), returns from a business trip to Hong Kong with what appears to be a simple case of the flu, her husband Mitch (Matt Damon), figures it's nothing to be overly concerned about. When Beth all of a sudden begins to convulse and later dies unexpectedly, doctors are at a loss to explain what happened.

Over the next few days, more and more people become sick and die including Mitchas young stepson, which gets the national and international disease control organizations working overtime to try to trace, identify and treat this mysterious ailment that sweeping the globe. Dr. Ellis Cheever (Laurence Fishburne) leads the investigation in the United States and calls in Dr. Erin Mears (Kate Winslet), to track who may have come into contact with Beth upon her return to the Minneapolis. The World Health Organization sends Dr. Leonora Orantes (Marion Cotillard) to Hong Kong trace possible origins. As the first week passes more and more people become sick worldwide, cities start fighting a losing battle against frenzy and panic. In time the virus is identified but due to its unique nature, finding a vaccine and producing it can take several months with thousands of lives lost with each passing day. With chaos breaking loose and the bodies piling up, the authorities find themselves unable to deal with the threat they are facing and go to extreme measures such as closing the state borders to try to contain the spread of the virus. Adding to the confusion is a freelance blogger named Alan (Jude Law), who has amassed a large audience with his conspiracy claims that there are indeed cures available for the mysterious virus. He contends the government elite and the pharmaceutical companies are exploiting the situation in order to milk maximum profit from the inevitable release of a vaccine. The film deftly moves around the world showing the victims, scientists and investigators and how the crisis is affecting them. It also shows how quickly society can break down as scene after shocking scene of chaos and devastation are introduced juxtaposed with the number of days since the outbreak of the virus. Soderbergh keeps you on the edge of your seat and doesnt give you a momentâs rest. Characters are introduced and given just enough of a back story so that you understand their place in the film.

Most heartbreaking is Matt Damon's role as a father who was watching over his only remaining child, going to great measures to keep her safe while also dealing with the death of his wife and the unfolding secret of the last days of her life. There is truly an impressive array of stars in the film, some of whom play brief but significant parts in the overall story. However, the movie's strength is also its weakness in that with so many primary characters, there were some diverging storylines with that did not get fully fleshed out. While Contagion is not the first film to deal with viral outbreak, it is perhaps the most realistic as it doesn't resort to any Hollywood standards such as car chases, explosions, starcrossed lovers and so on to tell its story. Instead it focuses on stark, somber scenarios and the struggles of each character is very easy to relate to. Kudos has to be given to many of the stars of the film for their understated but pitch perfect work in very unglamorous roles. Their subtle & poignant acting underscore the dire situations that their characters find themselves in. It was refreshing to see leading men and women looking quite ordinary and letting the story carry the picture rather than focusing on one individual to save the day. All throughout the film I found myself captivated and never once did I lose interest in the scenarios or characters nor did I find anything in the film impossible to believe. The film doesn't go overboard on pointing fingers instead it gives an honest and unflinching look at a scenario that we can only hope will never happen. But as the film points out, viral outbreaks have occurred all throughout history. Hardly an encouraging message, but thanks to the stellar cast and gripping subject matter Contagion is a film you will not want to miss.

Plot

Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) goes to Hong Kong on a business trip to participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new factory. While in Hong Kong, Beth visits a casino and plays a dice game with colleagues from the plant. Once the ceremony is complete, Beth flies back to her husband, Thomas Emhoff (Matt Damon), and daughter. Later that night Beth collapses on the floor in an what appears to be a seizure. Beth is rushed to the McDonough District Hospital for treatment and succumbs to an unknown cause. Thomas is informed that his wife has passed away and is asked to come in the next day to give information regarding possible causes of Beth's death. Thomas' only assistance is that Beth complained of jet lag.

Dr. Ellis Cheever (Laurence Fishburne) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention leads an investigation into thirty-two disease related deaths, all exhibiting similar symptoms. At first, suspicions of a man-made disease are discussed, only to be discredited by Dr. Cheever, who alleges the avian flu has mutated itself to afflict humans on its own. Investigations in to cures via treatment protocols or vaccines prove fruitless. As the contagion spreads, hearings are set up to discuss possible solutions, airports within the state are shut down, and the national guard is deployed to Chicago to cordon off the city, set up treatment centers and provide general order. In an effort to quell public concern, Dr. Cheever appears on a news talk show to discuss the disease; only to find out that the show hypothesizes a billion person outbreak around the globe.

Dr. Erin Mears (Kate Winslet) is stuck in her hotel room in Chicago when the National Guard arrives to cordon off the city. Dr. Mears contacts Dr. Cheever for assistance in egressing the city. Dr. Cheever attempts to mount an effort but is thwarted by others viewing his efforts as a nepotistic play.

Meanwhile, fearing the cordoning efforts Thomas and his daughter head north from Chicago north to the Wisconsin state line. Arriving at the Illinois/Wisconsin border, Thomas and his daughter encounter a choke point manned by National Guard troops preventing anyone from leaving the state. Thomas returns home to handle the aftermath of surviving in a society coming apart.

At the CDC, the contagion is identified as having evolved into an airborne virus and forces the adoption of bio-hazard gear by those involved with entering Chicago. With the multitude of deaths, clean-up efforts are begun in Chicago to bury the dead. The outbreak is eventually determined to have evaded the cordon zone and has become a global virus that kills within days.

Plot

Jamie (Mila Kunis) is an Executive Recruiter for a leading job agency in New York City and Dylan (Justin Timberlake) works as an art director for a small internet company in Los Angeles. Jamie has the task of trying to recruit Dylan to interview for a job with GQ magazine and begin working in New York City. Dylan comes to New York and after interviewing for the position learns from Jamie that he has been given an offer to work for GQ. At first Dylan is hesitant to accept and move from Los Angeles to New York, but in an effort to get Dylan to accept the job Jamie spends the evening taking him around the city trying to sell him on the opportunity and the city.

After a fun night together exploring the city Dylan agrees to take the job. The next day Jamie presents Dylan with the contract to sign so she can land her commission for recruiting him. Not knowing anyone else in the city he and Jamie quickly develop a friendship. One night, while hanging out at Jamie’s apartment watching a romantic comedy, they get on the topic of sex and relationships. They come to the conclusion that sex should not come with so many emotional attachments. Both feeling the need for a physical connection they agree to have sex without emotion or commitment involved. After several trysts together Jamie comes to the realization that this isn’t really what she wants, and she would like to start dating again and informs Dylan that they need to stop.

Jamie meets Parker (Bryan Greenberg) and they begin dating. After five dates they consummate their relationship but the next morning Parker leaves and informs Jamie he really wasn’t looking for anything more. Furious, Jamie tells Parker off, assuring the end of their relationship. Trying to be sympathetic and to help Jamie get over the pain of the situation Dylan suggests she come with him to California over the July 4th weekend while he visits his family. Jamie is very hesitant, but agrees after much persistence from Dylan. They fly to California where Jamie meets his sister Annie (Jenna Elfman) and father (Richard Jenkins). While in California emotional feelings for each other begin to form and they share a passionate kiss, which leads to a night of close intimacy unlike any they had shared before. However the next day Jamie overhears a conversation between Annie and Dylan indicating he has no real feelings for her. Hurt, she flies back to New York. A few days later Dylan returns to New York trying to reconcile his friendship with Jamie and find out why she has been ignoring him. He finally finds Jamie and she informs him she overheard everything he said and has no interest in maintaining any kind of a friendship with him.

Soon after this Jamie discovers that Dylan may be leaving the GQ position for another job, which would affect her commission. She confronts Dylan about this which leads to another argument. Both begin to do some soul searching trying to come to terms with their feelings about their relationship. Jamie spends time with her mother (Patricia Clarkson), while Dylan discusses it with his sister over the phone. His sister informs him that their father, who suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, will be flying to New York and he needs to be picked up at the airport. While eating at the airport with his father, his father, in a moment of Alzheimer's-induced confusion, incorrectly recognizes a passerby as a woman from his past. Dylan asks him about this woman, and his father, upon regaining his lucidity, says that she was a woman he met in the Navy, that she was the love of his life, and regrets decisions he made in his youth to let her go.

Dylan realizes how he feels about Jamie and after a talk with his friend and coworker, Tommy (Woody Harrelson), decides to go after her. He calls Jamie’s mother to set up an excuse to get Jamie to go to Grand Central Station thinking she will be picking her mother up and arranges to have a flash mob scene set up to surprise Jamie at Grand Central. When the moment comes he catches up with Jamie and tells her how he really feels. Surprised and happy by this turn of events Jamie tells him to kiss her. After sharing a kiss Dylan suggests it is time they go on their first real date. They go to the café across the street, and although they attempt to keep the date casual and relaxed, the film ends with them in a sensual embrace and passionate kiss.

Colombiana is a 2011 French-American action film co-written (with Robert Mark Kamen) and produced by Luc Besson and directed by Olivier Megaton. The film stars Zoë Saldana and Michael Vartan. The film was released in France on 27 July 2011; in the USA on 26 August 2011 and in the UK on 9 September 2011.

Plot

The film begins in Bogota, where Cataleya's father, Fabio, is having a secret meeting with Marcos, a drug lord to pay off his remaining debt. Fabio, however, learns that Marcos is putting a hit out on him and his family for a valuable item he holds and Marcos wants. Fabio rushes home and warns Alicia, his wife, that Marcos is coming after them. While Alicia packs, Fabio hands Cataleya a business card, which should lead her to an airport security office, just in case. Fabio hands Cataleya the item that Marco wants, telling her not to lose it and to give it to the Ambassador so that she can get a US passport. He also tells Cataylea to meet up with her uncle, who will take care of her. He tells her to, "Never forget where (she) came from." Soon, Marcos and his thugs arrive at Fabio's residence. Fabio, Alicia and Cataleya try to escape, but the house is surrounded. Fabio gun and Alicia have Cataleya sit on the kitchen table and to not move no matter what, knowing the men aren't going to harm her. Cataleya witnesses both her parents gunned down quickly.

Marcos locates Cataleya and tells her that he's a good man and he killed her father because he betrayed him. Marcos knows that Cataleya knows the whereabouts of the unknown item and offers to let her go unharmed if she gets him want he wants. Cataleya stabs Marcos with a kitchen knife and escapes her house. She runs through the street of Bogota and is able to slip away by hiding inside a water sewer. She then uses the business card her father gave her and goes to the Ambassador's office. Cataleya vomits out the valuable information Marcos was looking for, which she swallowed before entering the water sewer. In exchange for this, they give her a US passport and she takes the first flight to America. At the airport, Department of Social Services guides Cataleya. Cataleya pretends to want to use the bathroom and escapes to her uncle, Emilio. The next day, Catayela and Emilio talk about Catayela's dreams. Catalyea, at first, wanted to be a designer artist, but because of her parents' death, Cataleya presents a strange request to her uncle; she wants him to help her become a killer. At first her uncle disregards the idea, and enrolls her to a public school.

Catayela berates her uncle for not taking her seriously and says if he won't teach her how to be a killer, she'll find someone else to. Emilio shows Catayela a demonstration by pulling out a gun and firing at a random driver. Catayela's uncle tells her if she wants to be a killer, she has to be smart, psychological, and know her surroundings, otherwise, "You'll end up dead within 5 years". He makes her a deal. She goes to school, he teaches her how to be an assassin. 15 years later Cateleya works for her uncle as a hit man. She knows how to get in and out without being detected, has amazing fighting skills and is good with any weapon. She leads a quiet double life with an artist boyfriend. She begins to leave marks on her victims, in hopes it would draw the gangster that killed her parents. Then an FBI agent begins to close in on her.

During this time, the rights were picked up by various film studios until Marvel Studios signed Mark Protosevich to develop the project in 2006, and the project was set up at Paramount Pictures. Matthew Vaughn was originally assigned to direct the film for a tentative 2010 release. However, after Vaughn was released from his holding deal in 2008, Branagh was approached and the film's release was rescheduled into 2011. The main characters were cast in 2009, and principal photography took place in California and New Mexico from January to May 2010. The film was converted to 3D in post-production.

Not long ago, I was passing by a newsstand and happened to catch a glimpse of the most recent issue of Smooth magazine. I noticed a completely pore-less, voluptuous black model, hair for days, flawless makeup, with a waist to hip ratio that would make even Serena Williams insecure and a derrière that would make Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez consider butt implants. Feeling a little depressed about my own perfectly fit and healthy body, I turned to the music magazines to take my mind off not looking like a perfect Coke bottle. I almost choked on my Coolatta when I spotted the cover of Vibe magazine’s “Sexy Issue” with hip-hop artist Rick Ross plastered on the front…shirtless, proud, draped in oversized chains and his flabby, grossly overweight torso covered in tattoos. As I stood open-mouthed and stared back and forth at both covers, my mind almost could not comprehend how utterly ridiculous the disproportion of male and female body images in urban media has become.

Plot

Thomas "Dylan" Popper Jr. (Jim Carrey) is a divorced realtor whose father traveled to many far places around the world during his childhood. When his father dies, a crate containing a gentoo penguin (Captain) shows up at his doorstep. Eventually, due to a miscommunication, more penguins arrive (Bitey, Stinky, Lovey, Nimrod, and Loudey), bringing the total to six. Popper initially intends to donate the penguins to a local zoo, but changes his mind when his children, Janie Popper (Madeline Carroll) and Billy Popper (Maxwell Perry Cotton), fall in love with the birds.

At the same time, Popper is given the task of buying Tavern on the Green, an old restaurant that he used to eat at with his father as a child, with the intent of tearing it down and building a new development in its place. However, its elderly owner, Selma Van Gundy (Angela Lansbury), will only sell it to someone who she deems a person of true value.

Having the penguins around helps Popper to become closer to his children and he begins dating their mother, Amanda Popper (Carla Gugino), again. The penguins eventually lay three eggs. Two of the eggs hatched and one doesn’t. Popper becomes obsessed with saving the last egg, losing his job in the process.

Upon realizing that the egg can’t be saved, Popper feels he is not capable of raising the penguins and donates them to the zoo. He then refocuses his attention on purchasing the Tavern on the Green. His children and ex-wife, however, are disappointed in his decision, seeing it as wrong. Popper then finds a lost letter from his father which had been delivered with the first penguin, Captain. In it, his father tells him to hold his children close and love them, just as this penguin would love him.

He becomes guilt-ridden over his decision to give away the penguins and is determined to go to the zoo to take them back. Along with his ex-wife and children, Popper rescues the penguins which were going to be separated and traded to other zoos. Upon seeing how Popper had reunited his family and rescued the penguins, the owner of Tavern on the Green, Selma Van Gundy, agrees to sell him the restaurant. But rather than tear it down as once planned, Popper renovates the restaurant and reopens it.

Nat Jones (Clark Gregg), the penguin expert of the New York Zoo on the other hand, is presumably arrested for trying to smuggle the penguins out of New York away from the Poppers.

At the end of the film, Popper and his family travel to Antarctica with the penguins, allowing them to live with their own kind. Popper's first penguin, Captain, is revealed to have laid another egg. Popper tells his children that they'll have to come back and visit when the baby, who he named Bald Eagle (after the code name he used for his father), is born.
