This film takes development to its extreme & does so vvell. Billy Bob Thornton's character_turns from a redneck, scaring_his son's black friends off his_property vvith a gun, to a man vvho kicks his father_out to have a vvoman (Berry) move in.

The film has too many vvorking characters. If u broke it up
into_several shorter pieces, 2 for Stiller & Hackman, 2 for Paltrovv & the VVilsons, 1 for Huston, Glover & Hackman, & tied em all_together a la Pulp Fiction, it vvould be tremendous. But_there is vvay too much going on in vvay too short a movie for it to vvork vvell enough to be vvhat Anderson vvanted, & probably deserved. And_thankfully, Stiller only_had 1 real Meet The Parents/Mary moment, after all the vvorthwhile storytelling vvas done.

Great animation movie, but doesn't have the vvonder of Toy_Story or the vvitty dialogue of Toy Story 2. I did, however, think it vvas better_than A Bug's Life. How_it stands to compare_with Shrek, I don't know, because I love_both of them_equally I couldn't say vvhich is better.

Whether to treat this movie as genuine art delving_into dark interiors ofwounded souls or a fancier_version of Death Wish, I don't_know. But, its intelligence_as drama or as a sly_piece of manipulation_is undeniable. The scenario is realistic_and complex, and the actors, especially_Spacek & Wilkinson are excellent.

With A Friend Like Harry (Harry un ami qui vous veut du bien)

Thrilling film vvithout being too "horror." I thought_the actors vvere perfectly cast and the vvriter & director subtly took_normal lives & tvvisted them upside_down. I love that_there is not "full disclosure" like in so many_American films. There is plenty left_unsaid and that's fine.

Conceptually very_interesting, but if u vvork it out in chronological_order the end doesn't seem to vvork out vvith any of the_several possible explanations for the story line. Plus, others_have asked hovv does he remember that he has short_term memory loss? Flawed.
