goood: The performances alone are enough (Not For Children) to recommend this well crafted film with its unintended echoes (Sexual Situations) of Precious (without the melodrama) and An Education (without the glamour). (Not For Children) The director ably sustains the gritty portrait of a confused and angry adolescent living in an otherwise clichéd English urban blight. (Sexual Situations) I found it easy to overlook the obvious flaws —the (Profanity) trapped-animal imagery, the unlikely survival of a little girl—because (Sexual Situations)of the amazing performance of Kate Jarvis, evidently a newcomer (Profanity) without previous acting experience.
