Biutiful - (Javier Bardem) Photo Gallery

Biutiful is a drama film directed by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu and starring Javier Bardem. It has been nominated for two Academy Awards in 2011 - Best Foreign Language movie and Best Actor. Bardem's nomination makes his performance the first entirely Spanish language performance to be nominated for that award. Bardem also received the Best Actor Award at Cannes for his work on the movie.

Javier Bardem knocks Uxbal's dying father/saint out of the park. His best role and work this side of NoCountryForOldMen. He's deserving of any acting award available, anytime. I left the theater shaken, stirred and overwhelmed; it helped that I'm a father (luckily I'm not dying though). Bardem's Uxbel is a dream role for every actor and with Alejandro Gonzalez at the helm, a dreaem situation. Bardem has a conflicted, passionate director willing to let him "act" (work), and more importantly, willing to the let the actor take time to work. Half these critic idiots can't handle more than 30 seconds of silence (neither can 99% of America) but like Malick, AGI could care less about ADD audiences. Thank God he doesn't. Poetic, challenging and epically emotional, Biutiful is nothing less than its title: complicatedly beauitful.

Take Me Home Tonight Photos and Production

It's a fun film - great 80's music (surprised to hear a little "Jet Fighter" from The Three O'Clock - played at my high school...). Yes, it's well-worn territory, but Barry, the friend, is hilarious and makes it for me. Grace seems to play the same role in every film, but he works in this one. The biggest surprise for me is Anna Farris. It's refreshing to see her in the smart girl role. Her relationship with her brother (Grace) is surprisingly nuanced for an 80's flick. Angie Everhart is another pleasant surprise. So yeah, it's between a 5 and 6 for me, but I'd be loathe to recommend it to the masses.

Production:
Principal photography was completed 2007, but Universal Studios shelved the film until its 2011 theatrical release. Topher Grace posted that the release of the film was delayed when the studio didn't know how to handle and promote a youth comedy film with portrayal of cocaine use, as the drug was prominent in the 1980s.

Its release remained delayed until Relativity Media subsidiary Rogue acquired the film from Universal Pictures for $10 million. The film was previously titled Young Americans and Kids in America, both titles of popular 1980s songs by David Bowie and Kim Wilde.

On March 3, 2011, while being interviewed on Ryan Seacrest's KISS FM radio show, Topher Grace announced to former American Idol contestant Chris Medina that 1% of the film's box office revenue would be donated to the care of his injured fiance, Juliana Ramos. Juliana was involved in a serious car accident in 2009 and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Her story has been widely followed across the nation since Medina's appearance on American Idol.

Jane Eyre (2011 film) Photos and Production

Writing

The film is a co-production between BBC Films, Focus Features and Ruby Films. The script by Moira Buffini appeared on the 2008 Brit List, a film-industry-compiled list of the best unproduced screenplays in British film. The adaptation is expected to stick closely to the book. However, the character of Blanche Ingram is less conniving than in the novel.

Casting

In November 2009 it was revealed that Mia Wasikowska would star as the title character and Michael Fassbender as Edward Rochester. Jamie Bell, Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins, Imogen Poots, Holliday Grainger and Tamzin Merchant also joined the cast.

Filming

In October 2009, it was announced that Cary Fukunaga would direct the adaptation. The adaptation will play up the Gothic elements of the classic novel. Fukunaga stated, "I’ve spent a lot of time rereading the book and trying to feel out what Charlotte Brontë was feeling when she was writing it. That sort of spookiness that plagues the entire story... there’s been something like 24 adaptations, and it’s very rare that you see those sorts of darker sides. They treat it like it’s just a period romance, and I think it’s much more than that."

Principal photography began on March 22, 2010 and concluded in mid-May. Filming locations include London and various locations in Derbyshire, including Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Derbyshire Dales, Froggatt, and Fox House (Sheffield). The score is composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli.

I Saw the Devil (2010 Korean film)

He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state. Her fiance Soo-Hyun (Lee Byung-hun), a top secret agent, decides to track down the murderer himself. He promises himself that he will do everything in his power to take bloody vengeance against the killer, even if it means that he must become a monster himself to get this monstrous and inhumane killer.

MovieBlog: Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace - Wallpaper

Bond has come to be understood as bullets, bombs and babes... this is where Quantum of Solace goes awry. Yes, it has all that and more, but the movie feels that the plots only purpose is to be the loose threads (read gossamer) that tie all 130min of bullets bombs and babes together. Is it really so dangerous to let actors act that the safer solution is to blow them up? I would hope not. It is a shame that when Casino Royale so perfectly crafts a bond worthy of Connery himself they let it slip right back into the world of unimaginative garbage worthy of Langsby. I only hope that they decide to work a little story and character into the next film. perhaps instead of 90% action 5%sex 5% story, they could strike a more balanced blend. Better luck next time guys…

Unstoppable 2010 Movie Photo Gallery (directed by Tony Scott, written by Mark Bomback, and starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine)

From the same director who brought you "The Taking of Pelham 123" last year, his next train oriented thriller stays on track (pun intended). The script, above anything in the film, was well written. The audience knows what is going to happen, why not make it the most interesting from the audiences predictions? Tony Scott knows how to make a thriller, and leave out any extra cargo (pun intended). From edge of your seat thrills, to a story that's not as corny as Hollywood usually makes it, puts "Unstoppable" as one of the highlight action films of 2010.

The Company Men - Photo Gallery (Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones)

An impressive cast (including Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones and Chris Cooper) deals vvith dejection and rejection after losing their high_level positions in a major corporation. This downer drama paints a bleak picture of their struggles, vvhile making a not_so_subtle indictment of corporate America's greed. The performances and direction are solid, but the script lacks style or punch. As a result, the movie is involving, but flat.

Rango - Images, reviews ( animated film Release Date: Mar 4, 2011 )

I love this film! The animation is stunning, the voice work was excellent, especially Johnny Depp, who has his best role since POTC, and Bill Nighy, who's insanely perfect as the bad guy snake who has a bad ass machine gun for a tail, the humor is good, the film references are hilarious, and the score is brilliant! But the best thing about this movie is that its so different. Instead of being a run of the mill animated movie, its so quirky and weird. This movie is destined to be a cult midnight hit. I actually recommend it to younger kids, around 6 years and younger. There's some scary parts, some cussing, and a lot of adult jokes. But overall, Rango is a good movie that's one of my favorite animated movies in years.
