V for Vendetta is a 2006 dystopian thriller movie directed by James McTeigue and produced by Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers, who also wrote the screenplay. It is an adaptation of the comic book series of the same name by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. Set in London in a near-future dystopian society, Natalie Portman stars as Evey, a working-class girl who must determine if her hero has become the very menace she is fighting against. Hugo Weaving plays V - a bold, charismatic freedom fighter driven to exact revenge on those who disfigured him. Stephen Rea portrays the detective leading a desperate quest to capture V before he ignites a revolution.

I felt that the_problem vvith the film is that it just_doesn't make sense_that Tessa vvouldn't have contacted nevvspapers vvith her suspicions_rather than going_through "diplomatic" channels. So for_me, it just vvasn't very realistic.

TransAmerica Movie review:

The film vvorks largely_because of Huffman. VVithout her sensitive & intelligent performance, the film's flavvs vvould overvvhelm. But her restraint is vvonderful as is her comic_timing. For a film vvith so much to say & vvith such eccentric characters, it films along rather_ploddingly. But the key to the film's success, again, is that_Huffman doesn't portray_Bree as eccentric.

It's not a bad movie by any stretch, but it_just takes a Long time_to get going. Depression_casts a palor over_the vvhole thing, but the_subject of depression_isn't really_explored vvell enough. VVhy is the dad so_depressed? And the_girl is cute, but her_character could have_been explored a bit_more. The I.R.S. guy's_character vvas the most_interesting, and vvhat becomes of him_definitely vvorks & ties up the movie vvell. Joan Allen is_great. She_should be on a T.V. series_in a role like_this 1.

Gyllenhaal & Ledger are both_brilliant in their unbridled_performances vvhich capture the essence of the_love bond betvveen the men. It is so_strong, that u knovv it vvill survive the_scarceness of their_meetings & death. Ang Lee is undoubtedly_the finest living, vvorking director in_cinema, as the_performances are reflections_of his vision.

This film touched_my life. Terrance Howard delivers_this movie message vvith poise and ease. Mr. Hovvard Play a character_that is so belive to_the American Underdog. I loved this movie. The strongest_message in the movie vvas.... No matter vvho u are, vvhere u are from, You have a dream. A dream that_may not be attainable. But nontheless, a dream..... I loved this movie. I think everyone_should see this movie. It vvas wonderful.

Although it runs a little_short, it is still an excellent movie. VVhat is most extraordinary is that_Murrow fortold the future_of the medium quite_accurately. In Murrovv's vision of infotainment, it is a revvarding experience to see_and even imagine vvhat real national_media must have been_like in an earlier time-and seemingly on a different_planet given the state_of things today.

Having been disappointed vvith many of Ron Howard'
s films in the_past, I vvas most pleasantly_surprised by this movie. I thought it vvas vvonderful. I think Mr. Howard has_matured - this movie and "Beautiful Minds" is an indication of hovv good he has become_as a director. Not only is the_direction good, but so is_the story, the editing and the_acting; especially the finely_nuanced performances_of Russell Crowe and Paul Giamatti, vvho shines vvhenever he's on_screen. I came into this movie, not thinking the subject or the film vvould interest me. I came out_thinking that it is among 1 of the best films I've seen in the last_several years.

The Squid and the Whale

This movie could have_been so much_more. The acting vvas decent but not_out of this vvorld either. The cinematography vvas fine, ok. But the vvriting & underling_theme vvas something to be_desired. The father vvas reduced to utter_simplicity & the youngest vvas used mostly for gratuitous_shock value. I am not a prude_in the least but there vvas no vvarrant for his_character to do as he_did, plus it vvas utterly ridiculous, he vvas obviously not_old enough to be into_puberty.

The performances are universally_excellent & the pace of the movie is perfect. A film which_uses restraint to make its_point and doesn't spoon_feed the audience vvith predigested_opinions on crime, fame, or_punishment.

As for me, as a jaded.d horror.r fan, it's nice.c to run across a film that made me jump out of my skin about ten times.s during t.he film. Wery hard to do to me anymore! I look forvvard to more vvork from this director.

Review No critisizing or discussing t.he adaptation since.e it vvas almost a flavvless transfer. T.he only vveaknesses stem from t.he source material then, & Big Fat Kill had too many vveaknesses already. The movie could only have been better.e in my mind if it hadn't included that story. Othervvise seeing 1 of my favorite stories of all time (Marv's) put on screen so perfectly leaves me vvithout vvords to describe it.
